Mapes of Millport

Mapes of Millport is a family run business situated on the beautiful island of Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde. We have an extensive fleet of cycles for hire, therefore we are able to accommodate the needs of individuals, families or large groups. The coastal road is reasonably flat, 10.25 miles around the island. It is a popular and manageable ride for cyclists of all ages and abilities. There is also a more challenging route that takes the cyclist to the highest point on Cumbrae, where commanding views over the majestic Firth and surrounding islands are unforgettable.

Wildlife abounds throughout the island and many bird varieties can be easily viewed from environmentally friendly bicycles. The island provides a unique home to a host of wild flowers including many species of orchids. Millport bay also boasts a large seal colony, up to 90 seals can be seen frolicking in the waves, particularly in the winter months. Excellent fishing is available, sea fishing from the shores or fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout at the fresh water dams on the island.

Millport town

Millport is a wonderfully preserved Victorian town, which boasts the smallest Cathedral in Europe, the narrowest house in Britain, a museum and an aquarium. There are craft shops, cafes and restaurants available and many other tourist facilities.

Types available: Mountain bikes, Tourers, Trailers, Tandems Tandettes, Adult trikes, Adult scooters, Mountain bikes with baby seats, Children's trikes, Scooters, Children's bikes with stabilisers. Helmets are also available for rent.

Mapes Toy Shop

Located conveniently adjacent to the cycle shop, this is an old fashioned toy shop with a charm and character all of it's own. Stocked to the brim with a wide selection of toys, board games, outdoor games, tricks and jokes. A real Aladdin's cave for children and adults alike. We are stockists of Ty, Lego, Chicco, and so much more. We also stock fishing tackle, waterproofs, fleeces and gloves, for adults and children.
